CENWOR, Sri Lanka
CENWOR was established in 1984 and has a strong base of academics, researchers and activists with extensive experience in research and action-oriented programmes relating to gender equality and social inclusion.
CENWOR is recognized as a centre of excellence in gender-related research and analysis. Our activities focus on multiple issues such as women’s rights, gender-based violence, poverty, as well as diverse forms of vulnerabilities: the elderly, disabled, conflict affected women, and women migrant workers. Our work has contributed to law reform, policy interventions, programming, gender advocacy and training.
CENWOR is a not-for-profit organisation, registered under the Companies Act and the NGO Secretariat. The executive power of CENWOR is vested in a 12-member Governing Council.
