Nguyen Thi Dien

Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Dien has completed her Ph.D in Sociology and Rural Development from Liège University, Belgium. She works as lecturer and researcher at Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Vietnam National University of Agriculture. She served as the Dean of faculty (2016-2021), lead and participated several research projects on local livelihood, land issues, gender and youth in agri-food systems, migration, management health risks and governance in the emerging diseases… 

Associate Prof. Dien Nguyen’s research has made a significant contribution to understand the current issues of development process in Vietnam, to identify the socio-economic and cultural factors affecting to the disease introduction and transmission which are the foundation for the further technical research on improving disease management. Her research also suggested the practical and holistic solutions to improving livelihood of actors, both man and women, involved in agri-food system. Her work has contributed to the interdisciplinary research, not only the scope of study but also the application of the social sciences’ tools and methods in understanding and analyzing the development issues at different levels.
