Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, Vietnam National University of Agriculture

Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) (https://eng.vnua.edu.vn/) was established in 1956 as one of the first national universities of Vietnam. VNUA develops itself into a multi-disciplinary research university, dealing with national issues in agriculture and development. VNUA is a relied-upon consulting agency for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in collaboration to international institutions in solving emerging problems in agricultural production, disease control, natural resources management, climate change, food system tranformation and socio-economic issues of current development in Vietnam. The university comprises 13 faculties, 10 research institutes and 22 centers for research and services. VNUA is located in Trau Quy township, Gia Lam district, Hanoi, capital of Vietnam on a campus of nearly 200 ha with modern lecture halls, experimental, practical and other teaching, learning and research facilities. 

Department of Sociology is one of 5 departments of Faculty of Social Sciences at VNUA. The Faculty currently has 32 lecturers and 03 administrative staffs, of whom there are 01 Associate Professor, 11 doctors and 01 Ph.D candidate. Apart from teaching the Political sciences and Vietnamese laws to all students in the university, the faculty has 2 major programs: Sociology (since 2009) and Law (since 2020) with around 250 students enrolled each year. The Faculty has promoted international cooperation in training and research with various academic institutions and organizations in the world. Currently, the Faculty has sustained and developed cooperation in training, and broadened prospects for future cooperation in student exchange programs, workshop organization and research collaboration with a number of foreign institutes and universities such as  University of Liège, University of Libre Brussels, University of Louvain La Neuve (Belgium), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), University of Missouri (USA), Kanazawa University (Japan) Chung Nam University (Korea), Royal Veterinary College, Institute of Development Studies (IDS, UK), Institute for Social Studies (ISS, The Netherlands) University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka), Savanakhet University (Laos), CIRAD (France).
